limited app/channel selection (to cap of 40) missing "more" option.
on the roku device: i have limited app/channel selection for any/all categories. i only have 40 options. the usual "more" option is MISSING, which when selected, will show ~200 options. So, without the "more" option, i am limited to only 40 selections. Chatted with ROKU (Gennamae), they could not open a ticket and sent me here. Agent suggested i go to the website where the "more" option was available. To this i say: 1)the "more" option use to be there. 2)why have a roku device if i cant access all the options. 3) Roku was make so i didnt have to use a website. 4) This is a perfectly REASONABLE request. 5) Im showing a new person how to use Roku and the app/channel options simply are NOT THERE!31Views0likes4CommentsClosed caption keeps shutting off
While using apps I noticed the closed caption turns off constantly. I either need to restart or reset. Sometimes if I turn off the caption and turn it back on then rewind it starts back. I tried the accessibility option in roku and I have tried a hard reset. Sometimes the caption also randomly switches to another language specifically French. It is very annoying to have to constantly reset the closed caption.198Views2likes12CommentsClosed captions issue
I am so disgusted with Roku! This is a problem they can't or won't fix. Even though the devices as set to captions on always, they aren't. We often go to a program to find that the captions, though supposedly on, aren't. Sometimes restarting the Roku restores them, sometimes not. I've reported this issue numerous times to customer service and nothing happens. One agent even told me it was the fault of the streaming service. Which makes no sense since I can watch the program on my phone or iPad and the captions are there. Has anyone else had this problem and have you discovered a fix?98Views1like9CommentsLooking for Private Channels Feature or IPTV on Roku? Time to buy a different device!
Goodbye Roku! Hello Amazon FireTV! Just an FYI if you want to be able to use IPTV streaming services, invest in an Amazon FireTV stick, I've seen them new as low as $14.99. Or maybe you hate everything Amazon. Fair enough, there's plenty of other device that utilize an Open Android system. Unlike Android-based operating systems, the Roku OS is a modified Linux OS which acts as its own closed system, meaning there is no way to jailbreak it or customize it. AKA, if they don't want you to use IPTV services, you don't. Save yourself the hassle of searching for hours on ways to sideload Roku with any IPTV streaming services, it is flat out a waste of time. If you are lucky enough to sneak one by on a sideload, it will be quickly disabled and your ability to sideload at all will be revoked. Roku made a definite mistake and underestimated the importance of their Private Channels feature. I for example am getting rid of ALL the many Roku devices I had on different TV's and have sworn off the company. I made one last ditch effort today to see if I could save the devices from storage by sideloading any IPTV streaming service and after wasting 1-2 hours trying, I am throwing in the towel SO SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE. I used to love Roku products and recommended them to all of my friends and family but removing such a beloved feature on all of their devices, I made the switch to Amazon (blegh) FireTV and haven't looked back. That said, I am by no means an Amazon fan and may switch further to just a generic Android device for TVs, that way I can install TiviMate Premium. If you have an IPTV streaming service plan, I'd highly recommend you do the same! Roku cut the private channel feature out of pure greed. They couldn't profit from it, so why allow it to continue? I'm proof why. You will continue to lose customers to your top competitors over this gaffe, I guarantee it. Adios, have fun on your closed system Roku's!7.9KViews2likes11CommentsRetroMovie is back again (like CinemaBox, MovielandTV, Classico)
This morning RetroMovie was working again. Note: I did not have to do any reset or restart steps, no joining other networks and trying again ... it just started launching again WITHOUT the "ERROR! Parsing JSON feed file". None of the recommended steps did ever actually work. RetroMovie this time has (at the very least) a majority of the content in the previous iterations (it is difficult to check all the films, I'm guessing there are in excess of 1000 films available). Note also: There are still no Logins or Registration required or offered, there are still no ads or commercials, there is a working Search, a Continue Watching track (which you can add to and delete from). There is a Watch List on the menu to the left when you press the < arrow in the navigatioin wheel (<, >, up, down, Enter), which does not seem to work (I could not determine how to add anything to the Watch List). There is a Movies selection on that menu, and all that does is close the whole RetroMovie app after thinking it over. There are a great number of classic movies ... I paged thru the Recent category ... 897 of them and I saw many of my favorites. There are also categories like Most Popular, Drama, etc.. There is no App Provider Contact anywhere that I can find. If the App Provider is "pirating" content, it is a complete mystery to me as to why they would be doing so. No fees, no ads, no user data collection of any kind that I can see. Why would they risk Copyright infringement? What would be their motive? Anyway, for those taht are fans of this channel, enjoy the (free) show!761Views0likes37CommentsHow to delete apps from the mobile app
Hey everyone. I have 2 younger kids that both have Roku tvs. I love the fact that I can monitor what they have on their tvs and make sure they are watching appropriate things. In the past I used to be able to get on the Roku app go to devices and when I clicked on their device there was a thing that said "Apps" and I could view their currently installed apps or add new ones to their TV. I no longer have that option. When I click on their device it takes me straight to the remote. Is there any way to still do this through the mobile app or do I need to manually uninstall apps from their tvs now?58Views0likes1CommentGuest Mode options to move and remove apps are not available
We use Roku Guest Mode on our TV to support guests who stay in our short term rental so they can log into their personal steaming services and be logged out automatically at the end of their stay. When Roku is in guest mode, the user is unable to select options on certain apps using the * key on the remote or in the Roku mobile app. Instead of the app options menu, a "Not connected to the Internet" dialog box is displayed: This dialog tends to confuse guest who may think there is something wrong with the TV or the internet connection. In spite of the message, the device is connected to the internet and the apps actually work when opened. However, without the options available guests cannot move apps to new locations on the home screen or remove them if unneeded. If the device is not in guest mode, the same apps present their options menu as expected. This seems to have started with a Roku system update about a year ago. We have been unable to clear the condition with any type of available reset within the Roku system (network connection reset, factory reset, etc.). Apps which we have noticed don't present their app options when in Guest Mode include: Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, Roku Channel, Fandango at Home, Pandora, iHeart, Disney+, Peacock, AppleTV, Parmount+, Max and Fubo. Apps which still present their app options menu when in Guest Mode include: Live TV, Prime Video, YouTubeTV, PBS, PlutoTV and Tubi. We would appreciate help resolving this issue.Solved497Views0likes17Comments
