Roku device audio sync issues
I have multiple Roku device; TVs, "Ultimate" STB streamers, sticks - you name it; going back to composite A/V output. I now have and use ONLY High Def / 4K devices and TVs from Roku now. Originally, I had "purple screen - HDCP erros" between the Roku Ultra and an expensive LG OLED TV that required disconnecting HDMI cables, swapping them, the ports I used, and powering off equipment - until I gave up and called for a replacement "Ultra" STB. Roku relectantly replaced it - only to have the same problems (which I suspect they know about). I eventualy gave up on the Ultra insisting that I get my exercise every night doing this nonsense and decided that a 4K Streaming Stick would eliminate the need for multiple HDMI cables that Roku Support suggested I change out. The stick solved the HDCP issues; however the Audio Sync issues became the concern - and has been / still is present on EACH and EVERY Roku streamer / device / TV. Roku Support plays the same response to everyone: "What is the model, serial number, blah, blah, blah.." I haven't seen anyone say their problem has been fixed - instead, they just stop posting and complaining because they've come to realize that Roku doesnt have a permanent, workable fix! News flash - these same problems exist for Chromcast and Fire TV too. The "button push combination" on the remote is the best you can hope for as far as a fix is concerned; just be prepared to do it every night at least once every night. The procedure is below: Press the Home button on your Roku remote. Wait a few seconds, then press the following buttons in the exact order shown below, without pausing between buttons. 1 Press the Home button 5 times 2 Press the Up button 1 time 3 Press the Rewind button 2 times 4 Press the Fast Forward button 2 times Your Roku will be unresponsive and reboot. Audio sync should be better / fixed. Roku Support strings evetyone along by suggesting there is a fix - but they need 'more information" (a.k.a. time) to have their engineers look at YOUR problem (it is unique - no one else is having your problem!). They do this until the warranty return window for the streamer / device / TV has closed. Roku has been doing this for YEARS and it has likely become part of its mission statement. Its frustrating but it is what it is.Solved44KViews8likes45CommentsStreambar Pro audio drops out only on hdmi sources
Ok I’m finally posti my about an issue that has been driving me nuts for months now. I have a TCL 55R635 TV that I purchased a Roku Streambar Pro, Roku wireless speakers and subwoofer for to set up the surround sound system. I have the Streambar Pro hooked up to the earc port on HDMI4 on the tv, and all audio settings set to auto. This setup worked well for about 7 months, and then around March I started getting consistent audio drops every 3 minutes or so, lasting for about a second at a time. This appears to only happen on devices hooked up to other hdmi ports, such as my Apple TV, Xbox, and PS5. Does not happen on the Roku native apps on the tv. I have tried every possible combination of HDMI cords, ports, and audio settings and absolutely cannot figure out a solution that works. Any help would be appreciated Edit: I should note I'm fairly positive the problem lies with the streambar, as ive tried another soundbar on the same HDMI port and cord and had no issue whatsoever.2.6KViews3likes3CommentsRoku express making static/scrubbing noise
I just got a new roku express and when I began using it it makes a weird, loud static type of noise. The noise happens even when then TV is muted, so it’s not coming through the TV speakers. I’ve tried all of the solutions for distorted audio and none of them have helped. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?Solved31KViews3likes7CommentsStreaming device volume drops or gets distorted
Model 3810x software 12.0.0 build 4184-50 volume will get distorted, go up or down intermittently. This has been happening several months and getting worse. I have had these devices and loved them until this problem started. sometimes it will get resolved when going back to the home screen or restarting the stick. I have seen several posts with the same problem for the Roku tv and other streaming devices going back to early 2022 with no clear resolution. Verifying the audio is set to auto doesn’t have any affect. I have tried it several ways, but the problem keeps happening. If the problem is across multiple devices, then that would indicate it is a software problem.Solved4.2KViews2likes25CommentsNo Dolby Digital (or DTS)
I've read some posts about surround sound output from Rokus being deprecated with recent updates, so, I'm 'not sure if that's what I'm experiencing. I feel like I was getting Dolby Digital before, but definitely not now. - Roku Ultra - Connected via HDMI into my Vizio E70 - Optical out of Vizio into Yamaha 5.1 Receiver Playing Netflix via the Smart TV app (cutting the Roku out of the mix) - I get Dolby Digital. But when playing via the Roku, no true surround sound. Not sure if it's a Roku upgrade issue, or if for some reason this setup isn't supported. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.Solved24KViews2likes47CommentsRoku Streambar sound cutting out while using HDMI
Hello, I, like many others here, am incredibly frustrated with the constant audio cutouts (randomly, at least 2-3 times per hour, sometimes 2-3 times every 5 min) while using HDMI sources connected to the TV. This issue is beyond annoying — it's a total "show stopper". (no audio cutout observed when using roku OS, although not using it a lot). I've gone through all the usual "troubleshooting" steps: swapping HDMI cables, power cycling the Streambar, etc., yet the problem still persists. When I use another soundbar from a different brand with the same TV and cables, it works perfectly — no issues, for years. What is even more frustrating is reading this issue has been ongoing for years with no real solution. Roku’s typical response of "we will contact you separately" is just lip service — it does little for the community at large, the expected purpose of this site. If this doesn’t get fixed very soon, I’ll be returning this product while I’m still within the return window. It's a shame because when it does work, the bar offers great value, but this constant audio dropout is unacceptable. My Roku will not let me listen to videos anymore. Before someone replies with the generic "unplug it" answer this is what I have done to fix the problem. 1.) Unplugged the device for 5 minutes. 2.) Plugged the device in to the second HDMI slot on the TV 3.) Plugged the device in with a new HDMI cord 4.) Plugged the device in with the AV cables 5.) Tested my TV audio and both my Wii and DVD player both have audio with no issues 6.) Make sure the TV is not on mute 7.) Follow the steps from previous posts about changing the audio on the Roku All of this did nothing. The audio worked fine last night. Turned off the TV like normal and went to bed. Today nothing has changed and the audio isn't working. Tried calling customer support and they are closed due to the situation. I was redirected to their website to email them and kept being redirected to the community page to post.4.4KViews1like5Comments
