Wifi issue with Model 3930X device

Have a new Xfinity router.Phone, computer, and tv connect with Wifi, no problem.

But Roku Express model 3930x will not connect. Shows wifi name and made several attempts using correct Password. Keep getting Error code 014.40.

Could my Model 3930x Roku device be outdated?

Re: Wifi issue with Model 3930X device

@BGN

The 14.40 error is generally a password issue/error.

If you have any special characters in the password, try changing the password under your 2.4ghz settings to remove them. (usually the "#" sign is the culprit, but will vary from device and router as to which special character may be culprit).

Re: Wifi issue with Model 3930X device

@BGN

The 3930 is still being supported.  But note it is a lower end device with a single band WiFi receiver that can only connect with the 2.4 GHz band on WiFi channels 1-11.  It cannot see or connect to the 5 GHz band (channels 36-144) that is available on dual band routers.  You can check the WiFi settings reported by your other devices that do connect to your Wifi -- the channel numbers will tell you which band they are using.

Also note that if your modem and router (or a unit with the two combined) was supplied by Comcast/XFinity, they are one of the suppliers who have been resetting their supplied routers to turn off the use of the 2.4 GHz band.

Thanks to forum user @AvsGunnar for providing the links below to instructions for reconfiguring router settings for the listed internet suppliers. If you can't do this yourself, you may need to contact your internet provider to make these changes for you:
