I have no idea why this worked, I was having the same issue and once I downloaded the Roku remote app on my phone and used that, the connection was fine
The weirdness keeps on coming. What an inconsistent mess this is.
So curious.
Kudo's dood you solved it.
It is really beyond the Roku's.
I have dedicated Internet and have no such problems.
I already know it has everything to do with compromised internet connections.
I respect that you went beyond this and worked it out.
It does have everything to do with your Routers/modems.
It is well known and has been for many years that internet connections provided
with "bundled" accounts or that coupled with Phone plans and or cable streaming
accounts is comprised and not of the same quality. Especially coupled with such
company's hardware. They are in direct competition with streaming devices.
Such connections are compromised. This is not pure internet. Internet becomes a
side show attraction and an exploitable asset. Understand this, it is widely known
within the Industry. If you seek a a service in your area that offers Internet only
your speeds and quality will increase exponentially.
And all you will need is a simple Router. You can choose your own Router of high
quality at a low price.
@tee_run was able to solve their problem you were not.
My TV has Roku built-in and I had the same issue at 8 am on 10-11-2020. I have had the same connection for several months without any problems. The error showed no internet connection. I had to go back into the settings and scan for network connections. The Roku found the internet connection and I selected the connection that I have always used and it asked for password and password was already populated. That means it knew the password and I used the password that was already entered and it reconnected and all was fine. Thus, Roku disconnected and unselected the old wifi connection but it did know the password for the old connection. Seems to be a Roku issue or an update snafu. I have a Sharp TV with Roku built-in to the TV.
Obviously we are here because we dont know what the problem is.
People are compelled to immediately blame Roku with out understanding fully what
the problem is at all.
Wifi carries many risks and issues with it.
One of which is Security another is speed and consistency.
And quality.....Other Radio waves or Microwaves can set it off.
I dont use it for these reasons. And more.
All of my Roku's have been Ethernet capable. Ethernet capable is a selling point for me.
I never have problems much at all.
This issue has been reported for months now everyone that has solved it
did so by resetting their Router or changing something beyond their Roku.
We are probably addressing different issues on this thread.
You should learn to think outside the Box (Roku box) to solve your problems.
I tried this and it didn't help. I did discover some cool features in this app so thanks for the post!
