Re: Roku suddenly disconnected from wifi

Jump to solution

Hi Marie, and anyone else who has this same problem.

What I did and it's not a perfect solution to the Roku TV itself because no solutions they offer here worked permanently. I mean it did for a day then the next day the same problem kept happening over and over. The solutions Roku administrators/technicians give don't work. I repeat they do not work. They do for a day and that's it and it's a pain in the you know what. Disconnect the internet, restart the modem, erase the connection on the TV and set up a new one. What a terrible solution that only last for a day. Trust me i've tried them all. I got so fed up I figured out my own solution. You want to know what it was? It's not perfect but here is what I did. Instead of throwing away a TV that was a year old that I only use once every few months when I am in Florida I went out and bought a Roku 4K streaming stick. That solved the problem. Not with the TV itself but now I can use the TV with the streaming stick. It is awful that I had to do that but it was only about $40 and I didn't want to throw away a TV that was less than a year old that I paid $400 for. Roku was no help figuring this out. But my solution although it's not perfect will work.

Personally I think they pushed out some update to these TV's and there is a bug and they can't be bothered to fix it or find the solution. It's been going on for well over a year now and it's the same story over and over. There are many threads and discussions about it. It's either that or the wifi card they used inside these TV's are garbage and malfunction after a short period.

So as a recap either buy a $40 Roku stick plug it into the back of your TV and use that or throw away your Roku TV and never buy another one. That's the best advice I can give anyone having this problem. Anyways i hope this message helps anyone having the same problem.

I have the same problem with a Roku device plugged into an android TV. The Roku device drops several times a day, but the TV, other android devices, and laptop stay connected. As a workaround, I restart the AT&T 2.4GHz wifi on the AT&T All-Fi Hub from a Chrome web browser on an Android device. It takes about 15 seconds; the Roku device usually reconnects on its own; sometimes it's manually. That way I don't have to reboot or unplug any devices. I saved the Hub Ip address as a favorite and Hub password in Google to keep from retyping everything.
