Factory reset, now remote won't connect, stuck on language screen

WiFi just randomly cut out, went to check network settings and couldn't see any wireless networks at all (odd since my laptop can see half a dozen in my building) and under the MAC address had something like 'WiFi hardware not found'. Lots of googling and unsuccessful troubleshooting led me to try a factory reset.

Now stuck on the language screen on start up and my remote won't pair. Have tried resetting the remote, changing the batteries, having it in pair mode before TV turns on, power draining the TV, and any combination of the above.

Forums here not super useful but saw someone had success buying a new remote so tried that (Voice Remote Pro) but still no luck. Also connected an ethernet cable direct from my router (maybe should have done this prior to the factory reset but too late now!).

Any ideas??

Re: Factory reset, now remote won't connect, stuck on language screen

Is this a Roku TV or a Roku device connected to your TV?  If the Wi-Fi hardware has failed, no voice remote will work except maybe in IR mode.  If it's a Roku TV, you'll need to get a remote from the manufacturer (which probably isn't Roku) or a universal remote that supports Roku TVs and use an Ethernet cable for streaming.  If it's a Roku device like an Ultra with an Ethernet port, then you can use a Roku simple remote or a universal remote that supports Roku devices and and an Ethernet cable for streaming.

It's a Roku TV - TCL 65R635. I still have the original remote so I'm not sure how buying another TCL-specific Roku remote will help since the original won't pair (and was working just fine until the factory reset? Surely I'll just run into the same problem?

Does the original remote have a pairing button on the back or inside the battery compartment?  If so, it's a remote that works via Wi-Fi direct.  TCL also makes IR remotes.  Assuming the Wi-Fi module in the TV is dead, I think your best course of action is to get a universal remote that supports Roku TVs.
