Your kids are going to eventually go out into the world that includes a lot of differnt people. Some you agree with and some you don't. It might be nice if you are the one to share your thoughts on what will be in there every day life as an adult. They are counting on you to help then be successful along side many people they will go to school, live next to, work with.
Just a thought.
Where do you draw the line? I draw it here.
P.S. There is a difference between tolerating something and being entertained by it. The argument that parents and grandparents shouldn’t be selective about the entertainment their children watch only normalizes unnatural behavior in a kid’s mind.
Who knows, when the next big “pride” push comes along, like polyamory, perhaps you might draw the line there? Or do you have a line where you say enough is enough?
Roku is entertainment. Period. And we should have the ability, and certainly the right, as parents to block what we deem to be inappropriate.
Roku includes non-fiction and documentaries of lives that are not yours to judge and silence. Straight Pride in essence is everywhere everyday; allowing others space to live in society is a you problem.
The truth is we have rights to draw the line! People call good evil and evil good. Any type of sexual content is perverse and intolerable. As an adult it is inexcusable to watch that type of content. I do not want to be force fed that kind of poison period, let alone my kids nieces and nephew. We must have the same rights to be able to block such content. I am with many people on here but as we can see Roku has gotten to big that they are paying the piper and not caring for its costumers accept the ones who they sold out to. We have not heard a peep from them on this forum. They are suppose to care about customer feed back and folks here is your answer. Nothing!
Or, you could stop trying to control the lives of others and create your own puritanical service.
I agree with one of the commenters. I would like to block any content with a reference to any christian content. My children should not be allowed to be indoctrinated with harmful content.
@neonbunny If you hate Christians so much, and love your lifestyle so much why don’t you move to someplace like Saudi Arabia… Iran… Yemen… or Brunei? Places where it is extremely dangerous to practice your behavior. And very non Christian countries by the way I might add. Perhaps you should meditate on the fact that it’s primarily because Christians are tolerant, and that you live in a tolerant predominantly Christian country, that you have the freedom to post your hate speech on a website. And that’s exactly what it is. Hate speech. The very thing you proclaim to detest.
You can cry foul all you want. But it doesn’t change the fact that your behavior is not natural. Anatomy 101 proves it. If the whole world became you we would have no children. Your temper tantrum posts on a perfectly legitimate request wont’ change the fact that many parents, both Christian and non Christian don’t want their children exposed to unnatural behavior as harmless entertainment.
So clearly you want Roku to allow you to block your family from any content that may be Muslim in nature too. Got it. What about Jewish? Is Atheist ok?
I am ok with there being a large diverse type of content, and you can watch what you want. I’m just agreeing that we should limit the type of content that is shown to us, and our families, as others have mentioned.
I’m also confused by your point. Do you believe Roku should, or should not, allow people to restrict the type of content people request? Because your comment feels that you strongly dislike the view that Roku should restrict content.
Thus, they should continue to show both LGBT and Christian content. Or do you think they should restrict content? What about content showing Jews? Or Blacks? Or non Americans and other cultures?
Is Roku just entertainment. Period. And we should have the ability, and certainly the right, as parents to block what we deem to be inappropriate?
Or is Roku also educational and should show media that allows people to learn about other cultures and get an insight into the lives of others and learn empathy in the process?
