Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

@atc98092 Let me explain you with an example here. My setup is Atmos supported and I have problem with few shows in Netflix and NO problem with any other streaming subscription(Disney+, Apple TV, HBO MAX, VUDU). I have a Samsung QLED connected to Onkyo AVR model NR686 with ARC both Atmos supported and enabled. Take for example Peaky Blinders and Lost in Space in Netflix. Both shows ATMOS in the main page but in none of the devices in my setup(Shield TV, Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Ultra) connected to same AVR with ARC; Atmos DOES NOT come in Peaky Blinders and many other shows in Netflix BUT Atmos just WORKS FINE in Lost in Space and many other shows in same Netflix. Can you confirm if ATMOS works fine in Peaky Blinders in Shield or Roku Ultra(with Passthrough).

Thanks Again!

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

@vhroom if I get a few minutes free later this morning, I'll see what I can get from those titles.

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

@vhroom

Only seasons 5 & 6 of Peaky Blinders have Dolby Atmos (and Dolby Vision, etc).

Keep in mind that the AV quality tagging of a show is for all seasons, so they always default to showing the best available - however, many shows' earlier seasons lack higher AV quality (4K/HDR/DV/DA) so its best to check the later/latest seasons to verify higher AV quality.

NetFlix Atmos works fine with the 3820 (Streaming Stick 4K), 4800/4802 (Ultra 2020/2022) and Nvidia Shield (2019).

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

Yep, confirmed. Peaky Blinders did not offer DV/Atmos on the early seasons, but did on season six. The Ultra 4800 provided both.

Thanks @atc98092 Appreciate it! It's working for me now. Got to know today that audio codecs different in different seasons. Great talk. Cheers!

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

I have the same problem. The Denon now only offers Atmos in the movie settings audio menu. I know good and well that only a few programs are coming thru in true Atmos and the default of the new Roku ultra sound is not as good as passing thru what's actually being broadcast. So I switched my Roku box to an older unit and it performs like it should which is allowing my Denon receiver to offer and me to choose if I want Dolby digital or Dolby Surround, Stereo, DTS, and so on. Then when I am actually getting Atmos it says so on the receiver and on screen programming.

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

@webbhq If you have the newest version of the Ultra (4800/01/02) make certain your audio out setting is on Passthrough, not Auto. Otherwise the Roku reads from your AVR that it is Atmos capable and will send everything to the AVR in AC3+/Atmos. The newest models have Dolby Digital encoders and will convert all audio to the highest level supported by your audio system when in the Auto mode.

Re: Roku Ultra and Dolby Atmos

@gerryexI have the exact same experience using the same settings. That said, I have a 5.1 surround configuration though it is disappointing that the Roku Ultra won't recognize an AVR that supports Atmos when set to auto detect/pass through. I've often contemplated trying out Apple TV but don't want to waste money since the 4800 has been rock solid. Regardless, its clear that the audio options need to be updated
