Play on Roku is missing in Android app
The Android Roku app is version 9.9.1.2659820 . The Roku device it's connecting to is an Ultra 4660X. Its software version is 12.5.0.
I looked at this page https://support.roku.com/en-ca/article/208755108 describing the Play On Roku feature of the app. I remember using it from time to time several years ago. I follow the instructions on that page now and there is no Media icon in the Android app. Is the page telling lies to Roku's customers? Did this feature move to a different part of the app but the page wasn't kept up to date?

That 2022-11-03 article is over a year old at this point.

Re: Play on Roku is missing in Android app
I mean, if Play on Roku was eliminated from the app for BS reasons, then fine. But I'd appreciate Roku explaining that on their actual official support website.

Re: Play on Roku is missing in Android app
Hi @choco,
Greetings from the Roku Community, and thanks for reaching out.
Please be advised that this option is no longer available on the Roku Mobile App. But you can still use the Airplay and Screen mirroring as a workaround.
For more information on how to use it take a look at some guided steps below.
- How to screen mirror your Android™ or Windows® phone to your Roku® streaming device
- How to use AirPlay and HomeKit with your Roku streaming device
Thanks,

Re: Play on Roku is missing in Android app
You say it’s no longer available on your site still lists that it is and it’s on an article that was somewhat recently updated.

It was an incredibly convenient and simple feature that was removed out of nowhere for seemingly no reason. Disappointing really

Re: Play on Roku is missing in Android app
Agree with everyone asking why this feature is no longer available, and also why is there a support article that says it is still available? Why did I have to come search the community forum to find this out? Screen cast from Pixel phone will not find the Roku TV as an available option, so basically I can't screencast anything to my Roku TV anymore. Very disappointing.

Re: Play on Roku is missing in Android app
So I've read numerous posts from many members and moderators about the killing off of the Play on Roku feature, or media casting, which goes back to December 2023. But only after I spent an hour or two going through current Roku support articles explaining how to set it up.
It's one thing to kill a feature without notice to users. But if you're going to take that action, at least edit your documentation so that folks like myself don't waste their time trying to enable deprecated features.
