Spoke too soon. DTS did not correct the tablo issue..picture no sounds. Sorry
@FriscoP, have you tried swapping the 3930 with the 4802 to see if the problem follows the Roku device or the TV? I have a 3920 that works fine while others have said the same device doesn't work, so I suspect it's not just the Roku device.
Just finished testing; results are:4802X, which had no problem on a Roku (TCL, model 7121X) TV also had no problem on an old Sony Bravia, leading me to believe the 4802X (Ultra) is trouble free (re Tablo sound).
The 3930X (Express), which had the no-sound problem on the Sony Bravia was moved to a somewhat newer Sony, model KDL-40W590B, and had NO PROBLEM. Conclusion: it's a Roku model/TV model dependency.
For the astute reader that wonders why I had a Roku Utra front-ending a Roku TV in the first place: An earlier problem created by Roku caused Tablo (4th gen) to freeze due to memory corruption. I found that an Ultra would sidestep this problem. In making the changes above, I reverted back to native mode on my TCL Roku, expecting to be confronted once again with the memory problem. But NO. that problem appears to now be fixed (at least on my TCL Roku TV. Probably attributable to the fact that when I reconnected this TV to the internet, it did a download. But curiously, the download did not update the OS. It is still Roku 13.0.0, not the 14.0.4 that has been downloaded to the Ultra and Express devices. Could it be that Roku has smartened up at last, and turned off automatic downloads of the troublesome 14.0.0? Who knows? Certainly Roku is not at all forthcoming in any of this debacle.
Here is an update of information from my previous post.
Are there any new updates? I've been without the use of Tablo for three weeks now. It appears I've lost video and sound again. What's going on?
Here's a new one! This is due to to the v14 update. While my Roku Ultra is playing Tablo local channels that have the no sound v14 issue, I can power the TV off for for a moment, then back on, and have the Tablo playing the picture WITH SOUND for 5 seconds. After the 5 seconds the sound shuts off and a picture overlay appeared that says “An incompatible audio signal has been received. Change the output device audio settings to PCM.” My Roku and TV set ups are all listed here earlier. Hope this may help.
None of these steps work for me. I have a 3941X2-Roku Express 4K+ and an older model Samsung TV. I have received support from two Roku tech people who are clueless. I refuse to spend more money on devices just because the ones I purchased don't work.
I have 3 tv's streaming on Roku. The tablo app works fine on 2 of them. I can stream live tv on the third but cannot playback recorded programs. Any suggestions?
I tested out my 2 Rokus, a 3900x Roku Express and a 3920x Roku Premier. The Premier is connected to a newer TV and does not have the issue. The Roku 3900 is connected to A Sony KDL-40S2010 which is much older and neither Roku works on it since the 14 upgrade. I can fix it to get video but nothing fixes the sound issue. Also note that this TV also has the green screen issue as well.
I have two Roku 4K expresses and one Roku ultra Lt, they work fine on two tvs. None of them will work on my LG TV that is over 10 years old. So I went down to Walmart and bought an onn Google TV streamer for $19.95 and it works great.
