Re: Tablo 4 not working after 14.0 update
Definitely not solved. The Tablo app for Roku won’t stream OTA or recorded video. Tablo and Roku have been saying they are working together, but the problem still exists. Tablo, says it has something to do the way Roku manages memory during the decoding of MPeg 2.

Re: New Roku Express and tablo app
Same problem here with OTA channels which work fine on Apple devices. It looks like this problem has been going on for some time between Roku and Tablo, with lots of promises, but no resolutions.

Re: New Roku Express and tablo app
The basic Express 3960 is NOT powerful enough to use with the Gen 4 Tablo. It doesn't have enough RAM to buffer the MPEG2 stream used.
For Tablo problems, go to the Tablo community forums:

Re: New Roku Express and tablo app
Thank you Andy.
Yes, according to tablo, It’s a memory anllocation issue with MPEG2. I tried one of the solutions offered in the Tablo community, to use AirPlay (i used my iPhone SE2020). It worked for some steaming Apps ( Hulu, Disney, Tubi, Pluto, Apple TV, and stored videos) but not with Tablo, Netflix, or Prime Video (I tested the latter 2 just to check if it was only Tablo). I think you’re right that the express lacks enough power. Too bad, I like most of its other features. I understand it’s a get what you pay for thing, but it would be nice to see the OTA stuff.

Re: Tablo 4 not working after 14.0 update
Hi Riamie,
Just to follow up on your response to my OTA decoding issue.
It seems to have been a while since this problem first surfaced, so when you say ‘Further investigation’, do you think that the MPEG-2 issue between the mentioned hardware (Tablo Gen 4 to Roku Express) is something that can be resolved by the Roku team, or do you think that OTA MPEG-2 decoding might be beyond the capability of some of the lower cost Roku models?
Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Re: Tablo 4 not working after 14.0 update
I'm thinking about buying a Tablo to work with my Roku. Has this issue been resolved?

Re: Tablo 4 not working after 14.0 update
It depends on which Roku you have. From my limited experience, I found that it works with the Roku Express 4k, but not with the low end Roku Express, which I ended up returning. . My guess is that the Tablo 4th Gen will work with any of the (newer) devices above the basic Roku Express. I don’t know about older Roku devices. I’d definitely recommend Tablo if you’re in an area with good OTA reception. I upgraded from Tablo legacy to 4th gen and really like the new (free) menu system and built in DVR. You can simultaneously watch and record up to 4 channels on multiple WIFI devices including, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV, IOS, Android OS.
