I'm moving on to NVIDIA SHIELD
So why mark it as solved if there is no solution yet? Nice work Roku. Apparently the solution is something besides Roku to watch Tablo.
I have A Tablo and 3 Roku boxes; at first everything worked fine. A couple of weeks ago the Roku on the older TV stopped playing recordings and playing antenna TV programs. I select them, they look like they start to play and then go back to the program selection screen. However, the 2 other on the newer TVs, play the Tablo recordings' just fine. The older TV Is a LG 42PJ350 and it is not 4K.
I have tried the following:
Help, I don't know what to do next.
This temp workaround from Tablo support worked for many of us, but not all: In the settings for the Roku device, go to Audio → Digital Output Format → Custom, then make sure Dolby Digital is selected for the Dolby section. Can leave DTS off. Then go back to the Tablo app and try again. I hope you have the good luck with it that I did.
Worked for me as well. The specific configurations of equipment for which it doesn't serve as a temporary fix should help the Roku developers to id the root cause.
This is so on point! The work around only applies to a few! The majority of us are still without sound! As soon as I find a competitor for Roku I'm dumping you and will advocate for others to do the same!
I also had no sound after the workaround but fixed that by changing my TV's HDMI audio input format to bitstream from PCM. MY TV is LG.
Ok I found a fix for my LG tv's
I think others have said change the HDMI input mode.. so I went to do that and the option was greyed out..
So to get it ungreyed out.. I selected the Roku input and then pushed the gear for settings on my LG remote.. that way I was able to select between PCM and bitstream.
PCM was already selected so I chose bitstream and wallah.. it worked. Now down to one Sharp TV to figure out!
Good luck!
We are trying to get our Sharp TV to work as well. Please post if you find a solution. Thanks for everyone's input.
Tablo gave me the same instructions, but unfortunately only the video is playing now with no audio.
Thanks for sharing though! More than we can say for ROKU!
