Ve had a roku express for 5 years with no problems. A few months ago an " update" we all know thats code for planned obsolesence. Effed eveything up and I started getting 020 error messages the second content started to play. I called customer service which determined my unit was faulty. They sent another as it was their update that did the damage. Now the new one is having the same issue nomatter how many times I go through the unplugging plugging back in routine. The minute content starts to play or sometimes I might getb30 seconds to 2 minutes before it clicks back over to the error message!

Hi @DoughertyPM,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We noticed in your post that even on your new replacement Roku device, you are still getting HDCP error code 020. No worries, we are here to help.
Let's see if this will work for you.
- Remove HDMI cable and power cycle both TV or AVR and Roku device
- Try a different HDMI port
- Try a different HDMI cable less than 6 feet
- Try another TV
If the issue still continues, please let us know.
Cheers,

Re: Error 020 after doing all the right things
After this bring magically not a problem for several months, the issue is back again every day.
I feel this is what Roku does when they want to sell new units: turn this glitch back on so people try and upgrade to a new box to solve the problem

Re: Error 020 after doing all the right things
The issue has been happening since brand new. I have been dealing with this for years.
i even went out and bought specifically an hdcp 2.2 hdmi cable to try. Still did not fix.
model: 9101X Roku Smart Soundbar
Serial number: YL00GY843933
Software version: 14.1
Device id: R6498G843933
I might add that I am using a Samsung 4K tv with the OneConnect box.
The picture file size is too large, so here is the output on the screen, the audio continues to play but this screen displays:
HDCP Error Detected
To play this content, all HMI connections must support High-bandwidth Digital Content
Protection 2.2 (HDCP 2.2).
Try the following steps to resolve this issue.
Note: if you have an A/N receiver connected to your Roku soundbar, perform the steps on it rather than on your
- Unplug the HDMI cable from both your Roku soundbar and TV.
- Turn off your TV and unplug the power cords for your Roku soundbar and TV.
- Reconnect each end of the HDMI cable firmly, making sure a Premium High Speed
HDMI Cable is used.
4. Reconnect the power cords for each device and turn on the TV.

the same thing is happening with my Roku express. Everything is totally normal until content actually starts playing. all of the replies are so unhelpful lol I think you are 100% correct about obsolescence.

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!
We appreciate you for taking the time to troubleshoot your Roku device issue with the HDCP error. We would like to coordinate this with our Roku team for further investigation.
Please provide us with the following:
- Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and OS version and build. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
- Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
- If only one channel is affected, provide the Channel build version (highlight the channel and press the star (*) button of your Roku remote)
- Photo of the TV screen displaying the error. How do I insert an image in a post?
We look forward to your response.
Cheers,
The Roku Community Team!
