Even premium HDMI cables won’t work

Black screen full of writing flashes on and off saying that the proper HDMI cords are not being used and there is a problem connecting. It recommends unplugging both the Roku and the TV and then reconnecting. Did that to no avail. Bought new HDMI cables (even though what I was using was the one from ROKU). Changed ports. Everything. Still having the same issue.
