When problems are confined to a particular channel, it may be that the channel did not install correctly, has received a faulty update, or has subsequently gotten corrupted. A reinstall of the channel may fix the problem, so that is the first thing I would try. This is not a cure-all but at least it will assure you have an intact copy of the channel app's current version.

Remove/reinstall procedure:

  1. Highlight channel on home screen.

  2. Press * key on the Roku remote and choose Remove channel option.

[Note: If this channel is one for which you have a paid subscription through Roku, there will be a "Manage subscription" option instead of a "Remove channel" option. You can click this and follow the prompts to cancel your subscription and prevent any more payments, but your subscription and channel access will continue until your subscription period runs out. Due to a programming decision by Roku, you will not be able to remove the channel app via the Roku interface until the subscription period runs out.

Instead, try removing the channel via the official Roku remote app on an Android/iOS phone/tablet connected to one of the Rokus on your account. At the bottom of the first screen, click Search and do a search for the installed channel name. On the resulting screen you should get options to Launch the channel on your Roku, or Remove the channel. I've never tried to remove a subscribed-thru-Roku channel (I haven't had one for years, and this may give you an idea of one reason why) but others have reported this works with active subscriptions through Roku.
    ]

This will remove the channel from your Roku account, and thus from ALL Rokus linked to that same Roku account.

  3. IMPORTANT- IF YOU SKIP THIS STEP YOU MAY NOT GET A CLEAN RE-INSTALL:
Restart the Roku to clear its memory. Depending on your Roku model you'll find the System restart option under Settings > System > Power or if you have no Power option, under Settings > System. Repeat on any additional Rokus linked to this Roku account.

[Note: For Roku TVs (i.e. ones with Roku capability built in) with "Fast TV start" enabled, turning the TV off/on just puts it in/out of a standby state and does not give you a full restart. Use the menu options listed above.]

  4. Reinstall the channel to your Roku account via the Roku Home page Streaming Channels menu option. This will install the channel on all Rokus linked to this Roku account.

Notes:

  • The channel will be added to the END of each Roku's channel grid.
  • The Roku on which you performed the reinstall should get the installation immediately. Other Rokus linked to this Roku account may not get the channel until their next automatic update check. You can force an immediate update on any unit via Settings > System > System update.
  • If channel requires a login, you may need to log in anew.

If the problem persists at this point, it typically means the current version of the channel app has a problem that must be addressed by the channel itself as they are the ones that create the Roku-compatible version of their app and provide it to Roku.

Why would one television out of three suddenly stop streaming CBC Gem Livestream shows?  It says error 0, but I can’t find out what that is.

Re: CBC Gem Livestream Failure

Jump to solution

Hi @KW7,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand you're having trouble accessing the CBC Gem live-stream show since you are getting an error code 0. We're happy to assist you further. Please try these troubleshooting steps below:

  • Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press Star to open the Options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
  • Restart your Roku device: Press home on your Roku remote, select settings, select system, select power, and system restart. (If you do not see a Powersubmenu, skip to the next step.)
  • Re-install the channel: Scroll down to search, put the name of the channel or app, highlight the channel, and select add channel.

After attempting the troubleshooting steps and videos from other channels play fine, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developers themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them.

We hope this helps.

Best regards,
John

Re: CBC Gem playing episodes error.

Jump to solution

Removing the CBC Gem channel and re-adding it didn't get rid of the error for me.

I was able to resolve the error by pairing the CBC Gem app on my Roku TV with my CBC Gem email account on my Windows desktop computer. I did so by selecting the social media icons in the top right corner of CBC Gem on my TV when signed out of the channel. It then prompted me with the steps to do the pairing.

I haven't encountered the error since, although I do have to sign in to CBC Gem on my desktop before watching CBC Gem on my Roku TV.

I believe that this Error-0 is due to an authentication issue.

Re: CBC Gem Livestream Failure

I have this problem on ROKU Model 4210X Is it too old?

Live stream on CBC Gem works on Roku model 3930CA.

I NEVER have both running at the same time.

Here is what CBC Gem support suggested. I did not do the factory Reset and none of the other suggestions worked.

  1. Make sure that your Roku operating system and app version are up to date (Please know that the CBC Gem App is only supported on Roku devices using an operating system of OS 9 and above).

DONE, both systems OS 13

2. Clear your Roku Cache

  • Removing the cache from Roku is done by using the Roku remote button. From the Roku Home screen, select the Home menu option. Then press the following remote buttons consecutively:
    • Press the Home buttons 5 times.
    • Press the Up button.
    • Press the Rewind button 2 times.
    • Press Fast Forward 2 times.
  • After that, you have to wait for 15 to 30 seconds, the Roku device will clear the cache and junk files from the device and instantly restart your Roku streaming device.

 DONE, no effect
3. Restart Roku

DONE no effect

4. Delete and Reintstall the app

DONE several times, no effect

5. Disable any VPN, Proxy or DSN filter, if you have one of these installed on your network
 NONE

If you have tried all the suggestions above and are still experiencing issues, you can try the following:

6. Factory reset your Roku

  • Please know that a factory reset returns your Roku to the same state it was in when you pulled it out of the box. This means that all of your settings including downloaded channels and network preferences will be wiped out.

 NOT DONE

Re: CBC Gem playing episodes error.

Well my workaround stopped working. Not sure why? It was working for a while.

So I tried removing the CBC Gem app and re-adding it. An update was installed as well. Then I tried pairing the app on my TV with 2 different devices but I keep getting the Error-0.

Will try some other things but I hope this issue will be fixed soon. I want to watch the Olympics on my Roku TV!

I’m having the same issue. I followed the instructions to delete the app, restarted the Roku and added the app back but still having error issues. Is there anything else I could do to be able to start watching again??
