Re: Smart Home app demands I enable two-factor authentication - even after turning it off

Jump to solution

I can relate to the issue here. I have the same problems with 2FA on the Roku Smart Home App. It pretty much forced me to enable it and it doesn't give me the option in the app to disable it. I did go to my account on my computer disabled it there and confirmed signing out of all the devices I was logged into and then I went to the mobile app to check and it was still enabled there for text message verification. I signed out and signed back in and it still asks me for the verification code via text. It's very annoying cause every time I or my partner would open the app it would ask for the verification code and my partner would have to contact me from work to get the code every time. Is there any way to disable the 2FA completely?

I did exactly that just maybe 20 minutes ago and it is disabled, I signed out of the Smart Home App, Cleared Cache/Storage signed back in, and checked the 2FA and it's still requesting a verification code every time. I even confirmed it with my partner and it's still asking so I guess my last resort is maybe resetting my Roku Doorbell but I don't think that will do any good.

Hopefully they will get back to you like they did me . I am very happy that I didn’t have to spend money on a new system .

@adamswitzer202It is not your doorbell. I was using Roku light bulbs an it was the same way. I have since swapped out all of my Roku bulbs for Philips brand and guess what? No 2fa necessary. Good luck getting Roku to actually listen to all of these complaints and actually fix it.

Hi @adamswitzer202,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We are glad to have you here sharing your concern about the two-step verification on your Roku Smart Home app. We would be more than willing to provide you with further details.

Please note that using the Roku Smart Home app requires enabling two-step verification for added security. Disabling it is not permanent. Thank you for your understanding.

Cheers,
Riamie
