I have changed the language in sound and still can't change the start up menu to English. In my case, the initial set up was in Portugese. The home menu screen lists "Pagina inicial, Conteudo gratuito en des..., TV aberta, Pesquisar, Loja de filmes, TV Store, Canais de streaming, Minha Lista. At the top next to the time is Opcoes* PLEASE HELP! Do I reset the new RokuExpress device?
I solved the issue by resetting the Roku Express device (stick a pin in the reset hole). Had to do it a few times to get it to reset. The device had never gone through the setup when I first plugged it into the TV via the HDMI cable and power cable. Perhaps it was a recycled device. I was able to get the screen to enable "STEP 6: Follow on-screen setup." That was the first time STEP 6 appeared. Hope this helps. For a while, I was afraid I'd have to learn more than elementary Portugese.
If I could read spanish, maybe I could find it. But its in Spanish and I need it in English to set up the danged Roku!!
If you don’t want to do a factory reset by holding the reset button, try: ajustes -> sistema -> idioma and select English or Inglés.
However, since someone may have already set up your Roku, I would suggest a factory reset. Ie: hold the reset button/pinhole firmly pressed for at least 10 seconds.
kgriffin18, go to Settings, then up to Sistema, then Idoma, then English.
