The WiFi circuitry for the Roku Streaming Stick (3810) was moved from within the stick as on previous models into the bulge in the WR001 cord. The cord does double duty as the WiFi receiver and the power cord. It cannot be replaced with a standard USB power cord. Since Streaming Sticks have no Ethernet capability and remotes connect to them via WiFi, the WR001 is an essential part of the product, and it cannot function without it.
A replacement can be obtained from Roku for $20: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/usb-power-cable-with-long-range-wifi-receiver
