Hello everyone, I subscribe to Spectrum Wi-Fi and stream my local channels on my Roku. I have Samsung TV models and Spectrum is requesting that I purchase their Xumo Stream Box in order to stream on my Samsung TV. They claim that their App will not work with 2012-2016 Samsung models. Is this true or are they pulling my leg. They also say that they will give me the Xumo Box free for one year and then charge me $5 a month. I turned in their $10 boxes because the were getting too expensive. Can I continue to stream on my Roku and NOT use their box. I believe that just want to continue charging me for thing that I don't need or to monitor what I watch. Does anyone have advice?
It depends on the model number of your Roku device. You can't go by the name since Roku uses the same name over and over again. There may be a model from 2016 that's still getting updates, but I don't believe anything prior to that is. Check the model number of your device found under Settings->System->About and check the following list of devices. If your model isn't still receiving updates, then Spectrum is correct, but if your current device is working then I don't understand the problem. Is Spectrum saying that they will no longer be supporting your device? Even if it is still getting updates, anyone using a model that's that old will benefit from an upgrade.

I got the same email from Spectrum and I have the latest Rokus. I think they are just trying to get you to get the Xumo so they can charge you for it after one year.
