Roku Express (Model 3900x) - Suddenly no power/signal

Jump to solution

My Roku Express, has stopped working.  I have tested the HDMI cable, various power sources to the Roku Express and yet the Roku Express is non responsive.  Previously a light on the Roku Express would light up or blink to indicate power.  No there is nothing, zylch, nada...

Please help.

@Makraft

Thanks for the post.

Can you please provide more information about the issue you are seeing? How are you powering the Roku device? Is the device being plugged into the TV USB port or is it plugged into a wall outlet with the provided cable and adapter?

With more information we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,
Danny

It is plugged in the tv with hdmi, and power to the wall. Isnt that standard?

It is less than 8 months old.

@Makraft

Thanks for the information.

For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried connecting the device to another TV to see if you are experiencing the same issue?

If you are still unable to resolve the issue, please send me a PM with your Roku account email address, and include the serial number/device ID on the Roku device along with a summary of the issue you are experiencing. I'll be able to assist you further from there.

I guess I am a bit confused... Why is this being posted as a resolved issue?  It is far from being resolved.

I have the same problem. No power to Roku at all, not getting the light to show its on. Question, does it work only with the provided cable and adapter ? I am using a different cable and adapter since I misplaced the ones that came with Roku.

The USB cable shouldn't matter at all.  The adapter doesn't really matter, but it must be capable of supplying at least 1 Amp.  Look on the adapter and it should have something like "Output: 5VDC 1A".  If it shows 500mA or anything less than 1A then it won't work reliably if at all.  The light should come on within a few seconds of plugging it in.

Thank you. I switched adapters and cables, still does not work. I think there is a light that comes on showing it is getting power. I do not get that light. It is as though the device is dead.
