When I first activated the Roku I kept the Direct Tv, but I felt like I didn't need direct anymore and now some of the channels that I liked are saying a error. the account id is not active. How do I fix this?
Remove each affected channel, go to Settings/System/Power(if not applicable skip to the next step)/System Restart, then reinstall each affected channel. If that does not work check your internet router / modem.
Otherwise the device must be connected through the wall outlet. If the power is not the issue then the device is probably defective from some sort of internal failure. I’d suggest contacting here: https://support.roku.com/contactus.

Cable-type channels want to be paid. When you have a paid subscription to a "tv provider" service that carries these channels (like your former DirecTV subscription), they receive their pay out of the subscription fees you pay that provider. When you don't have a subscription to such a provider you are not paying for those channels.
Many cable-type channels make their content available for streaming via a "TV Everywhere" channel app for those paying for the channel through a provider as mentioned above. That service doesn't have to be a bloated cable or satellite service however. There are several services you can subscribe to and run on a Roku that may carry the channels you are interested in at a lower cost than you were paying to DirecTV. Ones that come to mind to check out for any particular channel would include:
• Hulu plus Live TV
• Sling
• philo
• Directv Stream (the new name for the former AT&T TV)
• YouTube TV
• frndly
• fubu
• vidgo
... there may be others.
There are several places on the net where you can look up which streaming providers carry a particular channel of interest. Here are several such pages:
• https://suppose.tv/
• .. and again, there may be others
Savings in cord cutting usually come from picking and choosing which of the offerings you wish to pay for instead of paying for full blown cable or satellite services with scores of channels you never watch.
Some of the channels/apps available to install on the Roku platform require user to either use a TV provider or subscribe to a cable-alternative streaming subscription service.
Chances are some of your channels were being watched using your DirectTV credentials. (ie. using DirectTV as your provider). Now that you no longer have a provider, these channels will not work.
You can look into the cable-alternative streaming subscriptions if you find that you really need these missing channels. These cable alternatives are Hulu, Sling, YoutubeTV, DirectTV Stream, Fubu, etc.
May have to do a little online comparison to see the channels included in package and whether Live TV is included in the package price. Typically, $65-$85/mo seems to be the average for these subscriptions.

If you post some channels you are missing, others with familarity can likely point you in the right direction and make suggestions.
