If the option to add is greyed out and your device is missing the Search button as well, generally means that you are in an supported region.
If you are seeing this and are US-based, then your Roku Account is misconfigured and showing you are in a different region.
Try setting up a new Roku account (different email address) using a hotspot or disabling any VPNs that may be contributing to a region confusion during setup and activation of the device.
