Adding Stream bar to second TV ?

Jump to solution

I want to add a second unit to another TV, a Roku Stream bar in another room.

1) Can 2 people watch Roku at the same time, from 2 different TV's with Roku systems ?

2) Does the Stream bar/Remote have the stick included for signal reception ?

3) When the new 2nd system (that's on sale) is installed, will it add another profile (person) for their saved lists.....or will both of our lists be mixed together ?

This is running 2 Roku's on 1 account, from 2 different rooms.

Hi @Bwana1,

Thanks for your first post in the Roku Community!

We appreciate your interest and inquiries on how to use multiple Roku devices. We will do our best to answer your question one by one.

To start with your first inquiry, you can definitely stream the same or different content/channel at the same even though both Roku devices are linked to the same account. However, please be advised that some channels may limit the number of devices that can be activated. Check with the channel provider for specific limits.

Secondly, the Roku Streambar has a Roku built-in 4K streaming and adds premium high-quality audio to the TV. Please be advised that no stick will come with Streambar.

For more information about Roku Streambar, visit our Support page here: Getting to know your Roku Streambar | Official Roku Support

Lastly, we recommend checking our Support page to find out more about the Save list feature: How to save movies and TV shows using Save List | Official Roku Support

We hope this answers your concern. You can also visit our FAQs for your reference.

Mary

Re: Adding Stream bar to second TV ?

@Bwana1-

I'll take your questions one at a time.

  1. Each Roku streaming device will serve one TV.  For multiple TVs you'll need multiple Roku devices.  Each can then display the same or different programming.

  2. The term "stick" is usually reserved to describe Roku Streaming Stick models.   These have a male HDMI plug at one end that can plug directly into a TV's HDMI port.  Current Streaming Stick products have their WiFi receivers built into their USB power cords.  Other "non-Stick" Roku models have female HDMI jacks that require a standard HDMI cable in order to connect it to a TV, and hasve their WiFi receivers built inside the unit.  Using the word "stick" in any other context in a Roku discussion may lead to confusion.

The Streambar is a combination of standard Roku streamer with built in WiFi antenna, and an integrated sound system.  It comes with its own remote control.

  3. Your list of channel apps is tied to your Roku account.  All Rokus linked to that same Roku account will get all the same channel apps installed.  Add/remove a channel on one device, you add/remove it on all devices linked to that same Roku account.  Some channels requiring a log in may share the login among all installed Rokus, others will have to be logged in separately on each device.

Profiles are a function of the individual channel apps - some have them, some don't.  Those that do typically share them between all devices on that account.

Thank you very much, that answered all my concerns....just wish they had a more reasonable priced subwoofer package with the Stream Soundbar package.
