I'm using a 3rd party remote app on my Kindle (RemRok). After performing a Roku system update on 12/13/24, my remote app lost all functionality. I had to download the official Roku remote app from google play onto my phone to use as my only means of getting into the settings at that point. I don't know if a new update changes the setting automatically or not, but I found the issue quickly! If this ever happens to you - here's the fix which worked for me!
SETTINGS - SYSTEM - ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS - CONTROL BY MOBILE APPS - NETWORK ACCESS - ENABLED (choose ENABLED instead of LIMITED).
I hope this helps some folks going forward. Seen plenty of similar complaints with no viable solutions offered. Merry Christmas!
Well my Roku streaming stick is fast forwarding uncontrollably and with no sound now on all apps . So frustrating .
You’re amazing!!! I’ve been trying to figure out what was going on all weekend.
Mine was doing something similsr a year ago - scrolling constantly downward on my home screen. Was not the physical down arrow on the oem remote that was stuck. It was the command itself in the software which was stuck. I think I removed the batteries from the oem remote, chucked it to the side. Download the OFFICIAL remote app from google play. Then use it to do a system restart on your Roku device. Your oem remote may be toast - it's why I'm using an app.
So glad that it helped you!
Thank you! Solved the problem with my Logitech harmony remote not working as well!
