Cannot navigate channels, and Roku icon missing. This is since the "all food," and, "your offers" areas were added. Hiding them has had no effect. I'm curious as to why they say they can no longer be updated, when they were able to add these so called features that broke my device. And they did so without updating the software, which is still 11.0. so they can do a non update update, that breaks something you already paid for, but not to restore it to proper basic functioning. Ludicrous.
I would guess that the menu is a simple, small file, (such as JSON, XML etc.) that they can quickly send out whenever they want to add some marketing thing.
Granted. but when several posts appear on the same issue, they leave us to deal or spend money, rather than reverting to the previous config?
ybe, I don
t know, TEST it with all devices in the wild to not tick people off?
As speculated, it is possible to update some of the auxiliary files without doing a full Roku operating system update.
The 3500 was one of the two initial Roku Streaming Stick models introduced in 2014. It had a good run, but technology has moved on. It is incapable of running Roku operating software beyond version 11.0 (current release is 14) and with the release of Roku 11.5 in September 2022 the 3500 became obsolete. A number of popular channel apps that depend on features and capabilities added after 2014 have dropped support for it. It also uses a unique remote that is no longer available, should your current remote finally give up the ghost.
It's time to update to a current model. You'll be astounded how much faster and responsive any of the current models are, compared to a 3500, plus you'll be able to load and run all available channel apps for years to come.
