Hi Everyone! I have an issue.
I am trying to show Tamil, Telugu, or Korean subtitles but I am getting squares like these.
I am trying to find a way to add a font that supports these type of subtitles. I was comparing with other apps like Disney+ and they can shows Korean Subtitles.
Before set the Korean Subtitles in Disney+ we don't have the Korean option in captions preferred language.
But after select Korean Subtitles in Disney+ App the option is available in captions preferred language.
Some old forums said that is not possible add Korean Subtitles but checking on disney+ is possible. Anyone has any idea about this behavior? Is there a way add more subtitles fonts to Roku?
Thanks
It seems that the issue is due to missing fonts that support the specific character sets for Tamil, Telugu, and Korean subtitles. To fix this, you need to add a font on your Roku device that supports these languages. You can either embed the font into your app or check if Roku allows font customization for subtitles.
It's a bit confusing, but if it is about subtitles for videos/programs - it is not a font issue; it is a subtitle file issue.
The Roku player doesn't translate subtitles or audio.
The developer must add subtitle files for every language they want to display/ make available.
When a subtitle is added to a video/program, you can find all available options in the language selector. If it is not there, it wasn't added.
There is always the option to contact the channel owner and ask for subtitles in the language you are looking for.
Have fun!
