Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

How do you add the path for files on the computer in the server and how do you connect it to the mymedia channel

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

You don't need to install the client via springboard. Install the channel by going to https://owner.roku.com/Account/ChannelC ... de=mymedia. Once you do that, enter and exit the Channel Store to load the channel on your Roku. Start the channel on your Roku and browse to http://localhost:8001/ on your server computer and enter the code that's shown on your TV screen.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I'm pretty confident that I've got everything going right, but the MyMedia channel won't link with my Roku. It's first generation. Does that make a difference?

Thanks!

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

No, that doesn't matter. If you want to bypass the browser based automatic linking, edit the config.ini file in the server directory and add a line that reads:
regid = xxxx
(where xxxx is the 4 character code shown on your TV) and then restart the server.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

Forgive me if this is in the thread. But I have been reading and searching the thread for a few hours now. 103 pages is a lot of information to try to get through.

Here's my setup:

Roku 2
Mac OS X Lion
Beta version of My Media channel and python server.
It runs, it sees my data but when I go to play a movie (H.264+AAC 500MB) the file starts to stream the data and then quits. There is a lot of 206 partial Content messages in the server and the log file shows what is at the bottom. I watch the activity monitor and it shows data was sent and then it stops after about 30 seconds. The screen simply shows "retrieving". Is the file too big?

I have an SD card in the machine but I don't have any way that I know of to copy the channel to the SD card as I thought this was the problem; i.e. the internal media was full.

here is the log file.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

There isn't anything there that looks to be wrong. 500MB is definitely not too big. Do you know the frame rate of the video? Do you have any video that will play? If not, try to download this one to make sure there's nothing wrong with your setup.

I will need to test when I get home tonight. However, I can tell you the video has an FPS of 25 and a data rate of 1.62 Mbps

I haven't been able to get any videos to play. I did stream a song last night no problem but no video yet. I have many in the movies folder but I can't get them to play.

I will update you when I get home tonight.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

25fps could be a problem. Officially the box only supports 29.97 and 23.976 FPS. I've had mixed results with other frame rates, although I don't know if I've ever had the problem of a video not playing at all. The problem of a video starting to load but not starting to play is often an audio issue. If the video I gave the link to plays, you may want try re-encoding a video with HandBrake.
