Has anyone seen any playback issues after 4.9? Like long waits, 30 seconds or more before the feed plays? My HLS shows played fine from Disk since 4.9, but now sits as if it will timeout, but eventually plays.

What do you mean by "from disk"? Do you mean a USB stick, or saved to tmp, or...?

I have my shows saved on my ISP servers disk at Dreamhost.com and I have converted my shows with Sorenson Squeeze 7 into HLS. All has played fine for the last few months and now I am waiting long periods before playback and the Home button does not kick me back to the channel. I may have a bad Roku XS as I just had another test channel working 2 hours ago and nothing changed and now it is going back to the channel icon when I select a category. Debug shows nothing. I did a factory reset and all the same. Next is the paperclip reset and hold a few seconds and try again in the morning. Here is a link that has been working for months and then today it is not and no changes except 4.9 as I last tested at 4.8 and all was good. Even vlc gives an error at times or just sits and tries.

Running in dev mode (sideloaded), if it crashes, it shouldn't exit back to the home screen. If it does, then that's a clean exit... sounds like you've closed all of your screens (do you have a facade screen?). If it's not running in dev mode, debug won't show anything.

If that's the case, then that would indicate an issue on the server, not the Roku.

Code wise no facades and no changes. I have a private channel and I update the xml's only. The same channel is side loaded and same issue. It may be the server at the ISP. I will get to the bottom of this. PC side the only thing I did was update Notepad++. Maybe there is a special hidden character I cannot see after saving and ftp'ing to my server.

If it's exiting cleanly, I'd suspect there's an error in your XML that's preventing the Roku from parsing it. Have you run the XML through a validator (http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp)?

Yes, I did all of that. Are you able to play the HLS path in the post above? It's almost as if the Roku XS wants to buffer the whole show before playing back, but it does play. I wait about 1 to 2 minutes and it plays, but if I hit Home it hangs for more than a minute or I have to power off and on. Strange that all worked as usual before 4.9, so I wonder if there are stricter rules in place for the .m3u8 structure. I have 3 bitrates and the feed is about 17 minutes. I was testing the adaptive settings for 360, 768 and 1200 kbps to watch the screen get better over time.

I get a 404 from the URL you posted above, so I can't test it.
