Editing XML and Brs files
I'm extra new....
Question is, when I attempt to edit the XML file using my Notepad to change the "category title" on the TED screens (ie: design, technology, entertainment), it won't let me save it. So, I am doing something wrong already as I attempt the learning curve. I was going to change one and test it on tv screen to see if I had it edited correctly before making other changes.
My plan is to edit the XML and apparently there are brs files I have to edit, also. Is there an order as to which one you do first or does it matter as long as they all get edited?
And, how do I change the info on the Manifest so that I don't have the TED info under my graphic on the main screen? Thinking I'm not suppose to edit the manifest.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Editing XML and Brs files
Open the Properties of the file you want to edit and uncheck the Read Only attribute.
Each file has it's own purpose and you can edit any of them to fit your needs. Just start off making minor edits and then testing them. That way when you break something, it's not as tramatic to go back and fix it. :?
I use a lot of comments in my code so I remember the purpose of what I'm doing. Eventually things start to make sense.

Re: Editing XML and Brs files
Thank you, that was it, the "read only" was checked.
I agree with you on making changes and check them and see how they turned out. That's what I have been doing with the graphics, also. Makes it a lot better for when something doesn't work.
Appreciate the help.

BTW, what server do you prefer for your Roku Channel(s)?

Re: Editing XML and Brs files
Server? Depends on how much content. I use Dreamhost for unlimited BW and Storage. If a lot of content you can move to a VPS and just move from a shared website to the VPS and the data can go straight over and maintain the same domain name and paths.

Re: Editing XML and Brs files
I've been looking at using Amazon curious as to what others have been using.
Thanks for the response.
