Voice pro remote less sensitive with new tv

Hello! I have the roku voice pro remote. I used to use it with a Hisense roku tv I bought with my brother for my old apartment. Now, I use it with an Onn Roku tv I bought with my roommate. Before the move, it could hear “hey roku” the first time from rooms away, and it never did the hollow red circle error of not having understood properly. Now, practically every time it even works, it initially doesn’t. I know it says on the tv, speak towards it, don’t be too far. But I swear it used to work ten times better. It said, “try reconnecting it to the tv.” Well, I tried. I also tried the thing where you hold down connect for 20 seconds. It’s still not the same. Also, why aren’t any of the devices I’ve mentioned showing up in the “associated products” when I type them?

  • Hi, Whovicon Welcome to the Roku Community!

We understand that you are having an issue with the voice remote. We are here to help.

Could you please confirm if the Fast TV Start feature is currently enabled?

When Fast TV Start is activated, users can utilize a command from their Roku voice remote to listen to music, live radio, or podcasts while keeping the screen on their Roku TV off.

Here's how to enable Fast TV Start:

    1. Press Home on your TV remote
    2. Scroll and select Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Power
    5. Select Fast TV Start
    6. Highlight Enable 'Fast TV Start' and check the box to enable it

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,
    Jharra

  • Hi Whovicon, Thank you for your prompt response!

We recommend several troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue.:

    1. Inspect for Obstructions: Please ensure that the microphone is not obstructed or covered by any items. Sometimes, even small debris can interfere with its performance.
    2. Restart Your Roku Device: A quick restart of your Roku device may also resolve the issue. To do this, navigate to Settings > System > Power/System Restart.

In the meantime, please consider using our Roku mobile app for temporary and backup remotes. For detailed instructions, please refer to our dedicated support article: How to use the Roku mobile app.

    Please keep us posted.

    Thanks,
    Jharra

Fast start is already enabled. The roku remote’s voice control is now always less sensitive than before I moved, both when the tv is on, and when the tv is off.
