Roku screen won't stop scrolling when remote is pointed at it

When pointing my remote at the roku device the screen will continually scroll and will not let me select anything. When I move the remote away from the devices receiving signal the screen stops scrolling. I have changed the batteries and restarted my roku device. Please help!

    Thanks for the post.

If you have checked to make sure that there isn't a stuck button and are still experiencing the issue, please send me a PM with your Roku account email address, and include the serial number on the Roku device along with a summary of the issue you are experiencing. I'll be able to assist you further from there.

    Thanks,
    Danny

  • No Solutions. But I have the same problem. Device worked fine for about a year. Not a battery problem. It goes from constantly scrolling to the device being unresponsive and then to scrolling. We have an express. Can Roku just let us know if we need a new device? Is there a warranty? thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I tried all the "fixes" but its still doing it. It makes it next to impossible to select anything. Ive rebooted the system, changed the batteries, checked the buttons, checked other remotes for possible interference. It just started doing it out of the blue. My remote is less than 6 months old.

I sounds like a button is stuck.  Try pulling up on the remote buttons or using one of those cans of compressed air to blow into the space around them.

Is there a solution to this issue? None of my buttons are stuck.

In the last week or so, our Roku Ultra has been getting squirrely, and then today this started occurring and I couldn't get it to stop.  I have a wifi remote with our surround sound system, and removed the battery from it, to no avail.  I was about to go out and buy a new Roku Ultra, but maybe I don't need to do that?  Once I saw this forum, I thought about posting here for a reply.

  • Hello. I’ve only had my TV and remote for a year. I haven’t had any issues until now. My remote will not stop scrolling down. I took out the batteries, replaced them, unplugged and plugged the TV, restarted Roku, and lastly checked for a stuck button. I don’t know what happened. Once I replaced the batteries, the remote wouldn’t turn the TV on. I actually downloaded the Roku app to turn my TV on and it still was scrolling. I’m not sure what to do next. Thank you!

I’m having the same issue. Reset tv, changed batteries, checked buttons to ensure they’re not stuck, blew air in remote. Can someone assist?

You check other remotes in the room, under cushion or book? Do you have IR repeater system so you can control it from another room? A baby monitor? Something to cause IR interference, so the offending IR doesn't have to be roku commands, just that your roku commands gets stuck in feedback loop.

Have you tried unplugging the tv for a minute or two and plugging it back in?

Nevermind.  On rereading I see you tried that.

  • I a, having this issue and I don’t see areal solution on here. No buttons are stuck and it’s basically unusable now. And that’s the issue I’m having

Im not gonna lie to ya, no one helped me with this issue at all. I ended up just unplugging it and getting a new system. Nothing I did seemed to work. If you are able to get in touch with someone who can actually help please let me know, it might be helpful to me as well. Thanks!
