Dear All -
I am just looking for a simple reliable option for one remote that reliably controls my Samsung TV, & my Sonos Beam Soundbar. I have a Roku Ultra.
Previously I have used a Harmony One Remote which is on it's last leg. Considering that Logitech no longer supports the Harmony Remote, I am looking for a better solution.
Can the Roku Ultra Remote do this? Can it sync with both my TV and my Sonos Beam? I don't want any new complicated universal remotes if I can help it.
What are my options here?
No, roku remotes only control tv's, when the settings work. 😞
It is upto your tv to control the audio gear via hdmi-cec, so the roku controls the tv by IR, and then tv controls sonos via signal over the hdmi cable.
So my Sonos Beam is indeed connected directly to my television. and my Roku Ultra remote is set up for TV volume control....but my Roku Remote won't influence my Sonos Beam...only the internal Samsung TV volume.....I am looking for that Roku Remote to actually control that Sonos Beam itself...how can i make that happen?
Try refreshing the cec devices in your tv settings? When they recognize each other as a cec device, the tv remote would control the sonos, and sonos remote would control the tv.
My Sonos Beam is connected to the optical output of my TV...not directly into a HDMI Port.
I have an unused HDMI-Arc connection available...but the Sonos beam doesn't appear to even have an HDMI connection to it.
Is there a change I can make here? a new adapter to purchase?
Looks to me like it has hdmi input:
so should i disconnect that optical cable and add a hdmi cord to the HDMI-Arc input?
Yes, and remember refresh the cec devices too.
ok...I will try this...thank you!
Just wanted to circle back to let everyone know that this worked.
I removed the optical cable and plugged the soundbar directly into the HDMI-ARC port. went into my TV settings and made sure HDMI-ARC/CEC was enabled and everything worked out great.
