Roku Power Supply Guide APR 2024

Below is a compiled list of part numbers for known Roku power adapters to assist in their replacement. Included for each player is the necessary voltage, original required minimum current, and the end-type of the cable. The list is neither complete or 100% accurate, but it's an improvement to what has been posted online in the past.

Cables with DC coaxial “barrel” ends are given with their inner diameter & outer diameter sizes and are listed along with their qDIN / Adaptaplug letter. Notice that the PW01 is listed with a “~” ID to denote an "innerspring” barrel center that can auto-adjust to various size pins. Not all adapter connections offer this feature so use judgement when choosing a replacement.

Also note that the 3810/3811 Streaming Stick+ Players require a proprietary mini USB cable with a built-in Advanced Wireless Receiver, the WR001, and use a PW10 adapter that comes with a USB Type-A Male-to-Female extension cable. All other PW10’s use standard USB Type-A male to male micro USB cable.

Replacement power supply adapters will need to be the specific voltage (5VDC or 12VDC) as required by each Roku player, but the adapters capable current (A) output CAN be considerably higher than the minimum stated for the unit. As such, a player only requiring 0.5A (500mA) could easily be supported by a power supply with a 10A capable output; it’ll only use what it needs.

Re: Roku Power Supply Guide

As I read this, the Roku Ultra 46xx and 4800 use the same power supply.  Is that correct?  I am having trouble finding power for a 4800, but there are plenty of options for 46xx players.

Roku Power Supply Guide - 4800X

Indeed.

The Roku 4800X requires the same PW11 power supply as the earlier Ultra's. They'll use any 12 volt power supply as long as the output is 1.5 amp or greater and has a 4.8mm x 1.7mm barrel connector end. The PW11 sold by Roku is perfect, but their shipping times are ridiculously s-l-o-w. Here are a few real world options.

Re: Roku Power Supply Guide

As I examine this, the Roku Ultra 46xx and 4800 use the identical strength deliver. Is that correct? I am having hassle finding energy for a 4800 mentioned on this page, however there are lots of alternatives for 46xx players.

Do these all have center-positive polarity?

Roku Power Supply Guide - Polarity

Indeed.

Technically, if the center pin is negative in the barrel is positive, the voltage should have a negative sign in front of it. But sadly enough, these power supply manufacturers could care less about any documentation of the barrel connector.

We've been surprised that over the years somebody like UL hasn't forced barrel size, configuration, and polarity as part of the listing on the label. Our guys on the inside state that it's because nobody has settled on a single standard for barrel connectors.

Regardless, Roku uses a grounded barrel connector with the center pin being live.

Roku Power Supply Guide - 3900X

This one's fairly straightforward.

If you're talking about the wall wart, er, power supply, as long as it's output is 5 volt (5V) and supports a minimum of 1 amp (1A or 1000ma) you're set. Power adapters higher than 1A are perfectly fine, as the Roku will only utilize the current that it needs. But it does need to be 5 volts, but that's usually the most common.

You can pick one of these with the USB port up at most Dollar Tree stores (when and if they have stock). If you happen to have an old iPhone or Android phone charger laying around, as long as it has a minimum of 1A output that's fine too.

If you're looking for the power cord to go along with it, it's a standard micro USB cable. This can be found in Dollar Tree too (they've got plenty of these).
