Roku 3 Remote Lost Channels w/ New Batteries

Jump to solution

We replaced our remote batteries with new ones, and the remote had a green flashing light. The buttons did not respond. We unplugged the Roku, and I was asked to sign in when it restarted. There is a new format on the screen, and all of our stations are missing. When we try to add the stations, we get an out-of-space error message.

Because the stations are not showing, we cannot delete them. Is there a way to get our stations to show again? Is there a way to clean the memory if we need to start over? We cannot use the Roku because the stations are missing.

HELP, please!

@jpk17-

First thing I would try would be to restart the Roku by pulling its power plug for a few seconds, then plugging it back in, to get it to restart.

Makaiguy,

I did that again, and it did nothing. The system states that my remote is set up as a gaming remote (RC03) and cannot be used as a TV remote. This changed the first time I unplugged the Roku when the remote would not respond after I put fresh batteries into it.

Does anyone know how to change a remote to the TV version as it used to be?

@jpk17, the remote that came with Roku 3 devices is a gaming remote (it has A & B buttons) and doesn't have TV controls, so you can't set it up to control a TV.  I think you're barking up the wrong tree here suspecting there's something wrong with your remote.  I think it's time to factory reset your Roku 3.  If that doesn't work, given its age, it may just be time to retire it.  If you link it to your original Roku account all of your apps should be restored.
