This is my 2nd Roku remote. It's a Voice remote. The new remote is not even a year old yet. The navigation buttons work when ever they feel like it, some times there is a second or two delay. They it doesn't work, if I wait a bit it works, then it stops again. The volume will go up when I press the button, but a lot of times it won't go down. Now sometimes while I change the channel, set the remote down, and start to walk away, it goes back to the home screen with no one touching it. I live alone, so there is no one messing with it.
I changed the batteries, 3 times, 3 different new sets right out of the package. I went to your home page, looked up how to restart the device. I reset it. Still the remote is messing up. So now I look up how to pair or re-pair the remote.
I unplug the device, wait 10 seconds or more, plug it back in, when the home screen shows up, I press the pairing button until it slowly flashes, then it stops for a second or three, then starts flashing faster, and I release it, as instructed. The I press it again for 5 seconds, until it flashes again, and then wait for 30 seconds, for it to connect... it says a pairing dialog should appear on my screen, but it never does.... (I have done the pairing 5 times now.)
Don't understand why a remote doesn't last even an entire year. I am female, over 65, live by myself, so I am not heavy handed, and no one else is messing around with the remote. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.
Hey there, @Mtcookiejar! Thanks for joining us in the Roku Community.
We appreciate you letting us know about this issue. Just wanted to share some extra info based on what our Roku streaming expert mentioned earlier.
If your voice remote has a pairing button, it is on the back of the remote or under the battery cover.
To pair your voice remote, press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds until you see the status light starts flashing.
If your remote doesn't have a pairing button, you can pair it by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons for 5 seconds or until you see the status light starts flashing.
We also suggest resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again and try using the voice remote buttons to see if this makes any difference.
Please try doing this and see if it helps with what you're experiencing.
Thanks,
Jharra
@GeeGeex57, try the pairing in a different order. Unplug the power to the Roku device and then press and hold the button on the remote until the light starts flashing. Once it's flashing, set the remote down next to the Roku device and connect the power. Once it finishes starting up, it should pair automatically. Don't touch anything until you get confirmation on your TV screen.
I can't explain the problems you've had with the remotes. I have a few and I've never had a problem. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Which button?

Our Roku Remote is not working. I tried various options that you wrote. Still doesn't work at all. TV freezes.
Also our ROKU stick that attaches to TV is very warm to the touch. It is Model 3811X.
Is this a common problem? What is the solution.
thanks, Susan
