First things first. Put in some FRESH batteries.
The remotes for Roku TVs are supplied by the TV manufacturer, not Roku. I have noticed the remote TCL supplied with my TCL Roku TV has a fairly narrow infrared beam, meaning I have to point it directly at the set.
You might benefit from getting a Roku Voice Remote. They connect via point-anywhere WiFi, and both models will control Roku TVs as well as Roku streaming devices. WiFi remotes must be paired with the set they are meant to control, but the instruction some in the box.
