When are they going to come up with a remote with direct channel access(numbers)and a last channel button or at least allow a universal remote to work? Hate the remote and until they update or allow a universal I also will not purchase any other products. Also hate that you can't get more program info.
Hi @ss18,

Who knows, you may see your suggestion implemented in a future update. You may check out our blog at http://blog.roku.com for the latest news and upcoming updates.

All Roku's that are not Sticks can have access to number commands via aftermarket universal remotes. In the case Roku tv's it will work on both Antenna er Live tv, and Roku Ch Guide. For Stand-Alone Roku like the Ultra or express then numbers only work on Roku Ch Guide and once you are tuned to live channel. The only maker of universal remote that will give you access to number keys for Stand-Alone Roku is UEI mode remotes under such brands as One-For-All, Inteset, Onn, and Insignia. Like this Onn from Walmart:
onn. R113663 6-Device Universal Remote - Walmart.com
One-For-All from Amazon:
Inteset 422-4 on Amazon:
For Roku tv's the code 4398. And the number commands are already preset to numeral pad via that code. As for Stand Alone the setup code is 3061, but here you have to map a 5-digit code for each numeral initially:
0- 00101
1- 00230
2- 00232
3- 00228
4- 00235
5- 00231
6- 00233
7- 00100 or 00108
8- 00106 or 00114
9- 00102 or 00110
Ch UP- 00183
Ch Down- 00185
To map these to keys:
1. Roku device
2. press and hold SETUP for two blinks release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SETUP for one blink
5. enter 5-digit code
6. pick a key
Repeat for each command using a different 5-digit code in step Five and picking a different key in step SIX.
The remote works the TV, but you still can't change the channel using numbers. If you have live tv or a cable box it would, but then you wouldn't need a new remote. Guessing when using the TV as intended, the number keys just won't work.
You bought one of the Remotes I linked to? If not, what remote did you get, brand and model number? But, if you did you need to use code tv 4398.
Very nice Edmund
I did buy the first one onn. R113663 6-Device Universal Remote - Walmart.com
and used the 4398. It does work the TV just as the roku remote. I am looking to not have to scroll through the guide to change channels(hit 85 and turn to that channel). It would work on live tv or if I had a cable box. But it does not work in the spectrum app.
Thank you for your time, I do appreciate it.
