Bug Report: Accessibility issue

Jump to solution

Model: 4800X

S/N: X01000R3HWJK

S/W version: 13.1.4 build 1510-C2

Tracker ID: JK-394-610

Remote is a standard voice model, I think.

I am hearing impaired, with a common condition known as "gunners ear".  I hear well at lower frequencies but at high pitches there are some frequency ranges I cannot hear at all.

All of the sounds available in the "Find My Remote" are outside the range of my hearing.  I believe that my situation is common enough to warrant calling that a bug.

Please provide some multi-toned signal sounds, preferably with notes in the lower ranges.

Thank you for your attention in this.

Hi, @DrDoc58 thank you for posting here in the Roku community!

We appreciate you for providing us with details about the issue you've experienced. We're here to help. To get started, can you please try resetting your remote?

Resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again and try to utilize the voice command feature to see if this will make any difference.

We would recommend trying to see if that resolves your issue. Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Jharra

This "solution" in no way addresses the problem, and certainly does not solve it.

I did reset the remote  before posting the original bug report.

The remote functions exactly as intended.  The problem is that the alert sounds available are all in a very narrow frequency range and are not audible to all Roku owners.

This is a serious failing in accessibility to hearing impaired Roku owners.

Please provide alert sounds for the "Find My Remote" function in lower frequency ranges, and/or are multi-frequency.
