Roku lightbulbs won't reconnect to the wifi after a power outage.

Seven of our brand new Roku bulbs will not reconnect to the wifi after a power outage.  One of the new Roku bulbs did reconnect as well as all of the Roku wifi plugs.  All of our other 2.4 ghz smart devices have reconnected.  The Roku app shows the problem bulbs as offline.  The bulbs are on and no bulb is more than 20 feet from the router…..some are as little as 5 feet from the router. The router is a 3-month old 4-radio wifi 6 device. Though the outage wasn’t caused by lighting, our home has a surge protection system.

Re: Roku lightbulbs won't reconnect to the wifi after a power outage.

I was able to get 5 of the 7 bulbs reinstalled but 2 of the bulbs I could never get to reset so I could reinstall them (using the switching them on/off  method).  I tried moving to different lamps and to lamps that I could use a wall switch to turn them off and on but they would never reset.  Also, for the 5 bulbs I was able to reinstall, if the power goes out or someone inadvertently turns them off at the physical switch I have to go back through the reinstall process to get them back online.

I had same kind of problem.

In my case the problem was bulbs were on a wall dimmer switch (even turned up to max, didn't work) and were screwed into 3-way sockets. Make sure sockets are not 3-way (these are for 50-100-150 watt incandescent bulbs.) They seem to mess with the circuitry in the bulb somehow.

Roku

We did receive a reply from tech support……it was just a generic reply saying to make sure the bulbs were fully screwed into the light sockets.  They obviously didn’t read the post. Nevertheless, we are giving up on the Roku smart devices and returning all the Roku bulbs and plugs to the place of purchase…….we gave these Roku smart devices a 1-star rating on the place-of-purchase website.  We have lots and lots of smart devices in our home and vacation home and have never had devices that were so unstable.
