Roku Smart Lightbulb Will Not Work Through App
I'm having the same problem with my smart light bulbs since the last app update. Using an old phone where the app has not been updated, it works just fine. It was a botched update that prevents us from connecting to the bulbs!!

It's the app, just like everyone else said. Mine don't work at all either now.

Actually, I know it's the app the problem because all of the devices that do not work with the Roku app (plugs, lights) all work with Google home. Ex.: I can turn on or off all my plugs, bulbs and cams from Google home (even with voice "hey Google")but if I use the Roku app, half of them I have no control over them. So the latest update of the Roku app broke something.

Thanks for mentioning that these things can work in some capacity with the Google Home app; I did not realize this, and have just linked them up - and yes, they work! Great to have a backup solution when things go wrong somewhere else!!!

I am confused as why you would need info about my phone, router etc. Now that we established without a doubt that the app is the issue. I even did a test by using the Roku app to modify the name of one of my device that I could not control, then went to Google home and I could see the new name and could still control the device so to me that says that the app works but it is it' connection capability that is somehow defective. Let me know if you need other specific info. Thanks.

I've been having the exact same issue and ever since the app updated it simply refuses to connect to the bulbs. You can redownload the app and it works for maybe a day but then it stops working. Every other suggested fix by roku support only fixes it temporarily if at all. I am using a samsung galaxy S21 ultra which isnt an new phone but certainly not ancient.

I am using a Pixel 7, motorola phone and Samsung tablet with all having the same issue, By what I have read on other treads, it seems that only the Android app is affected. Also, I noticed a difference in the naming convention of all Roku devices since the upgrade (I think). When I log in to my router and look at the connected device list, all the Roku devices (bulbs, plugs and cams) used to have their MAC address as the "host name", not anymore, most of them now have a host name : RK_****-(Mac address). I personally prefer that for troubleshooting purposes, but could that be a reason for the new problem?
Also, all of my shortcuts work ex. In my kitchen, I have 3 bulbs, one stand alone and the 2 other in a group, I have 2 shortcuts that includes the 3 bulbs named "kitchen on" and "kitchen off". So if I try to power on or off the bulb 1 the bulb group, it does not work yet if I use my shortcuts, all 3 bulbs turn on or off....very odd.
Any development on the issue?

We are all having the same problem. I have to uninstall the app every night if I want to be able to control the lights.
