I have a Roku "4200X - Roku 3". All works great. I need to be able to record a Xfinity live channel from it for 6+ straight hrs. Basically, I use the Xfinity stream app to tune in the channel, then have the Roku HDMI output connected to a laptop. Special software then records the channel it is on. All works good.
However, after a certain amount of time, the Roku screensaver kicks in (image below). Therefore, disrupting my recording. I think i can sort of hit a button on the remote occasionally, but not sure how much time is allowed. Is there ANY way of TOTALLY turning off the screensaver so it doesn't disrupt my recording? Having to keep hitting a button is annoying. I have looked in some settings, but not finding anything.
Hoping there is a way. If so, how?
screen that kicks in after a certain amount of time and disrupts my recording
Roku keeps moving things around. There used to be a "Screensavers" setting, but it may now be under Settings->Wallpapers & Screensavers. Look for "Screensaver Start Time" under that and set it to "Disable screensaver".
Screensavers shouldn't be kicking in if a video is playing, so there may be something else going on.
Another possible factor:
The Roku "Bandwidth saver" function kicks in when the Roku has received no user input in four hours. It asks if you are still watching, and if it receives no response, it exits the current stream and returns the Roku to its home page. At that point, if you have the Roku screensaver enabled it will kick in after the designated delay.
You can turn this feature on and off via Settings > Network > Bandwidth saver
Note that some individual channels may have a similar feature.
figured it out. It is in the settings under "themes". Can then "disable" the screensaver. This worked great. Thanks
