I used to be able to use screen mirroring from my Smartphone by choosing Pairing to a device on my Roku Streaming Stick. Recently this option is no longer listed. How do I get this option back? Is there a software update? My system says I have the most recent update. Was this taken away? If so, why?
Hi @Khop,
Greetings from the Roku Community!
We're glad to assist you with your problem with screen mirroring on your Roku device. Can you please try to restart your system by going to Settings > System > Power > System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step)?
If the issue persists, you can try to update your software if you want to update it by going to Settings > System > Software Update to update software.
We'll be waiting for your update on how it goes.
Kind regards,
Eunice
Hi,
Thanks so much for replying!
Before I wrote this post I did do a restart. I even did a "factory reset"! Nothing changed. The option for pairing with a phone is just no longer there! And I have checked for software updates and it says that I have the latest software. I am afraid that Roku has changed their products and removed this in a software update because when I look up pairing by bluetooth to a phone in the support area, it says only the Ultra and the Streambar support screen mirroring. It does not list the Streaming Stick. I am just disappointed that they may have removed this when I used to have it. I wish there was some way to ask them about it.
Thanks again for trying to help! Any other thoughts?
Hi @Khop,
Thanks for the quick response!
We understand you are having problems with screen mirroring on your Roku device since this option is not available. We would be happy to look further into this issue, but we need more details. Please provide us with the following information:
Once we have this information, we will be able to investigate further.
Best regards,
Eunice
Hi,
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I have attached screen shots of the Remotes & Devices where you can see that it only lists Pairing to a Remote and not any option to for Pairing to a Phone. I have also attached a picture of the Tracker ID with the number and the other information about my Roku. I will repeat that information here though in case you can't read the photo very well.
Model: 3820CA - Streaming Stick 4K
Serial number: X01700UFX9J0
Device ID: S09142AFX9J0
Software version: 12.5.0 build4178-CU
GC version: 10.3.24
Tracker ID: J0-480-478
Troubleshooting steps:
1) Unplugged the Roku, waited a minute and plugged back in
2) Done a System Restart
3) Did a Factory Reset (and paired my remote again, set up channels again, etc.)
My phone does not list the Roku Streaming Stick as an option to connect with for Bluetooth. It used to do that when I went to the Pairing for phone option. However, that option no longer appears on the Roku menu so therefore I can't do Screen mirroring anymore.
Thanks ever so much for your help!

Hi there!
I just thought that I would check in. It has been 2 weeks since our last communication. Will it be several weeks before I hear of a solution from the Roku group you forwarded my issue to?
Thanks again for your help!
Thanks for getting back to us, @Khop!
We have been coordinating this with our Engineering team and they have advised that the Roku Streaming stick 4K doesn't have Bluetooth. You can refer to our Support article on How to turn on Bluetooth pairing and connect your phone to your Roku device
You can also stream through your phone using the Roku Mobile App by being on the same network or by using the screen mirroring feature depending on the smartphone you have. Whether it is an Android or an Apple device.
Once again we sincerely apologize for the confusion and appreciate you bearing with us in the meantime. If there's anything else we can be of assistance with, please don't hesitate to let us know and we'd be more than happy to continue doing so.
Best regards,
Carly
Hi Carly,
Thank you for getting back to me. I realize that there is nothing that you can do for me. However, I just want to make it clear. I was able to pair my phone to the Streaming Stick previously for several months for screen mirroring. Then the option for pairing a phone was removed from the screen. I am very disappointed in Roku for doing this.
I would really like to know why they would change this. It must have been taken away with a software update which I think is very poor of the company.
Thanks anyway to the community for trying to help. I thought it was a glitch. Now I realize it is a feature which has been removed.
