Roku Premier OverHeating Issues

Jump to solution

My device is over heating. I have to shut it off to cool it down. I get to watch for about 1/2 hour then have to shut it down. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi @Poo52,

Welcome aboard to the Roku Community!

We understand that you are having overheating issues with your Roku Premier and we are here to provide assistance.

If overheating is preventing you from streaming to your Roku Device, try doing the following steps:

  1. Before attempting to unplug the power cable from your Roku player, make sure to turn off the device and unplug it from the power source. Then, allow the Roku player to cool down for a few minutes before proceeding with the unplugging process.
  2. Find a cooler location for your Roku player; avoid placing the unit:
    • Inside a cabinet or other closed space;
    • On top of other electronic devices such as cable boxes, routers, or audio/video receivers;
    • In direct sunlight.
  3. Allow your Roku player to cool down for at least 10 minutes before proceeding. After it has cooled down, reconnect the power cable and wait for the Roku player to power on. If you still encounter the previous message or if the Roku player displays a solid red light, it's essential to unplug the power cable promptly.
  4. After completing step 3, repeat it once more. If the issue continues, it is best to discontinue using your Roku player.

My TCL (Roku) 32" TV just gave me a overheat warning. I looked up the fixes and saw what to do. However, it was not a fix for the overheating issue, I have 2 other TCL (Roku) TV's can I expect the same issue with them? Should I leave them unplugged when not in use? Are the TV's even safe once this occurs? Thank you
