Currently, many Roku remotes feature a small, often purple tag at the bottom of the remote. While this tag acts as a distinctive branding element and is recognizable, it is not functional and can sometimes feel unnecessary to users. Some users might even remove it to simplify the remote's design or find creative ways to modify or repurpose it.
Instead of the removable tag, has Roku considered removing the tag entirely and relocating the Roku logo or branding either: directly onto the **back of the remote**—specifically on the battery cover, the small indenindentation on the back where the user's finger rests when using the remote, or on the bottom of the front part of the remote, right under the buttons, where all of the empty space is on the remote?
This would serve the dual purpose of retaining Roku’s branding while simplifying the design, making the remote sleeker and perhaps even more cost-effective to produce by eliminating an additional component.
### Advantages of This Change:
1. **Streamlined Aesthetic**: Without the tag, the remote may have a cleaner, more modern look, appealing to users who prefer minimalistic designs.
2. **Durability**: Tags might wear out, fall off, or become damaged over time, but embedding the branding directly into the remote would ensure longevity.
3. **Improved Ergonomics**: Removing the tag reduces any potential distraction or discomfort for users who interact with the bottom of the remote.
4. **Brand Visibility**: Placing the Roku logo elegantly on the top/back/bottom of the remote (e.g., embossed or printed on the battery cover/bottom half of the front) would preserve the brand identity in a consistent and tasteful way.
5. **Sustainability**: By removing the tag, Roku could potentially reduce waste in manufacturing and packaging components, aligning with environmentally conscious practices.
### Additional Thoughts:
For those who appreciate a way to personalize or locate their remote, Roku could consider optional accessories like colorful silicone covers, adhesive tiles, or other non-intrusive add-ons. This way, users who value customization have options without needing to rely on the tag.
