Very late in replying, but I believe the 'contact lens' is from the movie Arrival. Not 'The Arrival' though - those are two separate movies.
Also a bit late to the game here… But, could the cat be ‘Cat’ from Red Dwarf?
I thought it was Spot, Data’s cat.
