I turned off my tv after setting up my stick. I came back about 4hrs later to watch tv and had to set it up again. Very annoying. How can I avoid this in the future?
That sounds kind of impossible. Once a Roku is set up it doesn’t unset. Do you mean you had to go through the entire set up process such as select your language log into your Wi-Fi log into your Roku account? Select the channels you want and add them? Or did it just lose the Wi-Fi? Can you elaborate? Where did you purchase it from? Best Buy? Amazon? Target? Walmart?
Had to setup from scratch. Language, etc, etc. once set up it worked fine. I will try again tomorrow in the AM.
bought new unopened from bestbuy.
All wi-fi and other connected units are good.
Thanks for concern. I will notify if problem persists, or doesn’t
goodnight.
Try using the supplied power adapter plugged into the wall (if you are currently using USB power port on TV) and see if that fixes issue. - Eliminate an underpowered device issue.
If you find that the Streaming Stick factory resets itself again, that is a pretty good indicator that the internal flash memory or other internal hardware failure is occuring.
If you narrow down to a device failure, then replacement is your only option.
Feel free to post back with an update or if you need more help.
@Gpsman Return it to Best Buy. But what your saying is kinda of impossible
It turns out (I think) the unit times out when not in use. I pressed the on/off switch -short press-on the side of the stick and the light came back on. Why does it time out? Is it supposed to?
There is a power-savings feature on the newer Streaming Sticks 4k/4k+ (models 3820/3821).
You can disable it from Settings/Systems/Power/Power Savings. (Disable 20min).
You should be able to just use the Home button on the remote to wake it though when Enabled. (The power savings feature did cause some original problems when released with certain devices)
From Settings/System/About are you on OS 10.5 or OS11.
The roku stick is plugged into a 4way splitter hdmi box. It turns off when I switch to my isp for tv. Hmmmm?
