I'm over onscreen keyboards. Never using them again on any product. This is 2024 and I believe there should be more advanced interface options then plucking out letters with a remote control.
Roku has a voice control option, but it doesn't work. And I don't like them because they can never understand what I'm asking for.
I attempted to connect a bluetooth keyboard like I use with all other streaming devices which makes searching easy and fast, but I don't see a way to connect one to any of my Roku's.
Is there a more effective way to search on a Roku I'm overlooking? Something more high tech?
The Roku will not accept a wireless keyboard. No way to do it. Other than the search function using the Voice Remote, there is a search function within the Roku app that you can install on a phone or tablet. You then have the on-screen keyboard function available. Just be aware that any search function on a Roku (device or app) does not search all available sources of media that can be found on a Roku channel/app. It only indexes content from providers that participate in the Roku search capabilities.
I still use an older open-source web application on my laptops called Remoku to search on my Roku devices. You can install it as an Extension in some browsers (chromium, brave, etc), or just go their site. https://remoku.tv/
A little help page is available to explain it. https://help.remoku.tv/
I use it for searching and the ability to copy/paste into password fields (ie. login to subscriptions, etc) when using my Roku devices.
***Do not install apps named Remoku from the Play/Apple stores as they are not the same as remoku.tv.
