Continuous Laptop Casting to Roku TV - Keeps Disconnecting After X Hours

Have a laptop in office that is set to loop through various website dashboards via a python script. This part is fully functional.

This laptop is then set to cast to a Roku TV wirelessly. It works for a couple hours but when I come back to office next day its at the Roku TV home screen. It's like cast just stops or turns off after X hours.

The goal is to have the laptop continuously casting to the Roku TV. Is this possible?

Laptop Settings:

  • never logoff
  • never sleep
  • casting to wireless display being Roku TV

Roku TV Settings:

  • bandwidth saver disabled
  • power saver disabled

Any ideas? Worst comes to worst I can always physically plug the laptop in and hide it somewhere or get a Raspberry Pi to attach to back of Roku TV that runs through script, etc but this should really just work.

Re: Continuous Laptop Casting to Roku TV - Keeps Disconnecting After X Hours

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community, @jrenna_bline!

It is highly appreciated that you have brought this to our attention and we'd be more than happy to be of assistance here.

In this case, it is possible for your Roku TV to be able to continue casting without powering off. May we also know if you've had this setup before? if so, does it also power off after hours of casting?

We hope this information helps. Looking forward to your response!

Best regards,
Carly
