All of a sudden today my Roku started having a pop up that says cast to tv.. this keeps interrupting our shows and we have to go back to the home screen and find out channel all over.. I've tried to figure out a way to fix it but I can't.. Any ideas would help.
I saw that for the first time today too. Mine it said somebody from phone trying to cast to my Roku box. Which is impossible. They have to be in my wifi network first. hmm. My Roku is not connected to Wifi.
Any how. In Roku setting i disabled all casting. Go to setting -> System -> screen mirroring -> Screen mirroring mode = never allow

Mine started doing the same thing last night. I searched the Internet for a solution to no avail. I scanned the QR code on the screen and realized it was a pop up ad created from a an old app I used with chromecast. I deleted the app from phone and the ad disappeared.
Turning off screen mirroring didn’t fix mine from doing it. It keeps happening every few minutes for several hours at least twice a month.
I can’t get mine to stop popping up. What was the app you deleted?
In a way it is nice to see I'm not the only one that has this problem.
Besides the pop-up I've been getting short clips of hard porn.
I didn't know there would be any danger with the pop-up but my child (& I) was very upset with what he did see before I could hit the return arrow and get it to go away.
Did you have the same thing happen to you?
I know this maybe old, but the only way I found to stop the TV cast app from popping up was to disable the devices ability to receive triggers from a mobile app:-
Settings->System->Advanced System Settings->Control by Mobile Apps
The default setting is (Default), change it to Disabled
This way no mobile app will trigger anything for casting, or any external control whatsoever,
I just recently suffered the same, but this one was to scan and install Cast AD-Block, which popped up on both our Roku devices simultaneously, so I disabled the app control and it doesn't do it now.
