Unfortunately, I don't think most any IR-based devices support something like an A and B code set like back in the old days. The only way to work would be to use RF-based remotes only. I'd assume most any Roku TV should support that. That will limit you to Roku remotes, through. You would need to be one step above the most basic remote.
See the thing is that I keep coming back to is that RCA and Sony and all the other brands use different codes. It's a software response not a hardware. they still make remotes you can open the back and manually change the code. or you can go through the auto program on the remote. So, if there was a way to update the software to serve a different signal being sent problem fixed. I used to have a stereo that had a remote that you would have to switch between setting to control different parts of the stereo

I think the multi-codes with some older brands is just legacy that they keep supporting. Roku is new from scratch.
I did ask on a forum that focuses on remotes and generating codes for certain remotes. Maybe someone there will know if Roku TV's support something like A/B codes.
